Bandai Namco has officially announced their latest trading card game, Gundam Card Game, alongside a tabletop RPG similar to the longstanding Warhammer 40k, called Gundam Assemble. This news comes shortly after Bandai announced they would be halting production of Battle Spirits Saga in North America. Battle Spirits Saga was a TCG with a playstyle similar to Yu-Gi-Oh!, but with the added mechanic of “cores” used to pay resource costs.
Gundam Card Game is a trading card game based on the Mobile Suit Gundam franchise, where players battle each other using Gundams, Gundam pilots, and other elements to secure victory. What sets this game apart from other Bandai card games is the variety of player formats. In addition to the typical 1v1 format, there are 2v2 and 1v3 formats, similar to Magic: The Gathering‘s Commander.
The starter decks release July 12, 2025 with the first boosters coming shortly after on the 26th of July.
If you’re eager to get your hands on the cards, you’re in luck. Demo decks are being provided to Bandai TCG+ registered stores, with each store allowed to accommodate up to 16 players (the reason for this limit is currently unclear). You can create an account on the Bandai TCG Plus website and sign up with a store in your area for the event.
